Judge Fredericka Phillips has an extensive legal career spanning over 25 years. As a District Court judge for 8 years, Judge Phillips presided over hundreds of trials, timely ruled on thousands of motions, and meticulously managed thousands of cases, ensuring that the judicial process operated fairly and effectively. Her commitment to excellence allowed Judge Phillips to consistently maintain one of the lowest dockets in Harris County, a testament to her focus on fair and impartial justice and timely adjudication.
Prior to her tenure on the bench, Judge Phillips was a civil litigator for more than 17 years, specializing in complex business disputes, contract disputes, personal injury cases, and more. Her comprehensive understanding of the law and strategic approach to litigation frequently resulted in effective negotiations and positive resolutions of cases.
Judge Phillips is admitted to practice before all state courts in Texas, as well as federal courts including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Federal Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Texas.
Judge Phillips received her law degree in May 2000 from South Texas College of Law, where she served as a member of the South Texas Law Review. Before that, Judge Phillips earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Lamar University, where she graduated cum laude. She is also a certified mediator after training with Mediators & Arbitrators of America and South Texas College of Law Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution.
